American Drengr is hosting an active threat response seminar that provides participants with strategies and techniques to respond to an active shooter situation. The primary goal of the seminar is to educate individuals on how to protect themselves and others in the event of an active shooter.
We use the “Avoid, Confront, Treat” model, which outlines three primary strategies for responding to an active shooter situation, as a foundation for our instruction:
Avoid: The first and most important strategy is to avoid the shooter if possible. This may involve evacuating the building or finding a secure location to hide until the shooter has been apprehended.
Confront: If avoidance is not possible, the next strategy is to confront the shooter. This may involve taking actions to distract, disarm, or disable the shooter, either individually or as part of a group effort. This is where the bulk of the seminar will focus.
Treat: Once the shooter has been neutralized, the final strategy is to provide medical treatment to those who have been injured. This may involve administering first aid or calling for emergency medical services.
This seminar will provide instruction on physical techniques and tactics for confronting an active shooter, such as hand-to-hand combat, improvised weapons, and crowd control strategies. Additionally, the seminar may cover best practices for communication and coordination with law enforcement during an active shooter event.
Our seminar is designed to provide unarmed civilians with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to an active shooter situation and help protect themselves and others from harm.
